Elizabeth holds a Master of Studies degree in English from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Virginia. She is originally from Russia and has lived and worked in six countries, wearing many hats along the way, including as a technical writer and an academic editor. For two years, Elizabeth was a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the University of Muenster in Germany as part of an EU-funded research network in diaspora studies. She has presented her research in modern and contemporary literature at more than ten international conferences; she has also published two peer-reviewed articles in literary studies. Most recently, Elizabeth spent a year as a language arts tutor in sunny Cyprus, where she also volunteered as an instructor and cross-cultural facilitator with two higher education non-profits that work with refugees. When she is not teaching or writing, Elizabeth enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, exploring the West Coast with her husband, and perfecting her standing yoga poses.
